A MAN has admitted trying to incite an underage girl to engage in sexual activity.

Mark Sorenson, 50, of Harcourt Way, Selsey, appeared at Chichester Crown Court on Wednesday for sentencing, having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to 12 child sex offences.

He was sentenced to a total of six years imprisonment, and was also served with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order severely restricting his access to children and computers, to last indefinitely, as well as being required to register as a sex offender for life.

Sorenson pleaded guilty to attempting to incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity in 2013, with arranging/facilitating the commission of a child sex offence between 2011 and 2013, and with 10 offences of making indecent images of children during the period 2010 to 2013.

Detective Constable Paul Gilmour, from West Sussex CID, said: ‘We began the investigation when information was received from another force that Sorenson had been posing online as a young girl, and was trying to entice another young girl into committing indecent acts.

‘When we searched his address and examined his computer we found the evidence of this activity, and also indecent images of children.’

Sussex Police said there is no evidence that any local children were involved in the offences, or were at risk in any other way.
