Pair appear in court over crash death of Portsmouth teenager

TWO men have appeared in court over the death of a teenager in a car crash.

Luke Fletcher, 19, of Paulsgrove, died on January 24 last year after a crash in a Nissan Almera on January 23.

It happened on the B2177 at Southwick at the junction of Pitymoor Lane at 11.17pm.

Zax Ross-Harris, 22, of Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, yesterday appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving of the Nissan car, causing serious injury to Sonny Wedge by dangerous driving, causing death while driving unlicensed, and while uninsured.

He entered no plea to all four charges.

Danny Ross-Barringer, 25, Ludlow Road, Paulsgrove, also appeared in court over the teenager’s death.

He is charged with dangerous driving of the Nissan car, and with aiding and abetting the following: causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, causing death by driving unlicensed, and while uninsured.

Ross-Barringer entered no pleas to the four charges.

Standing in the open dock the pair spoke only to confirm their identity.

Magistrate Wendy Cheshire bailed them to appear at Portsmouth Crown on March 27.
