A MAN was found dead in a car.

Hampshire police were called to Craneswater Avenue in Southsea at 10.20am yesterday.

A member of the public had called police concerned about the man’s welfare.

A force spokeswoman said: ‘We received a call at 10.20am from a member of the public who raised concerns for the welfare of a man alone inside a car parked on Craneswater Avenue, Southsea.

‘Police officers went to the scene where the man was pronounced dead.

‘The death is not being treated as suspicious.

‘We are in the process of identifying and informing next-of-kin, and won’t be in a position to confirm the man’s name in the media until formal identification procedures are completed.

‘Hampshire Constabulary will refer information about this sudden death to HM Coroner in due course.’

People have been urged not to publish photos of the car until the next-of-kin have been notified.
