A TEENAGER has been charged following the attempted robbery of an 84-year-old woman.

The victim was walking on the Heath in Sussex Road, Petersfield, when a man approached her and asked for money. He was holding what appeared to be a sharp implement.

She refused and he picked up a log and asked again. Again the woman refused and walked off shortly after 7pm last Thursday.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident on Saturday.

The teenager – who cannot be named for legal reasons – was later charged with attempted robbery, theft and possessing a knife in public.
