Two petitions have been started after we revealed the plight of arrested Portsmouth grandfather Steve Grant.

He has been trapped in Dubai for weeks after being held there while on his way to Oman in a bid to see his abducted grandchildren.

The British Embassy has told him it cannot intervene in a foreign state’s police inquiry, but Mr Grant and his family want the UK Government to do more to try to help secure his release.

Today The News launched an online petition for readers to support our call for decisive action by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

And Mr Grant’s daughter, Lucia Plato, has launched a petition calling on the Government to do more to secure the release of her sister Lacey’s children.
