A STUDENT was robbed of his mobile phone and wallet in Portsmouth.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the incident, which occurred at about 11.50pm on Friday on Cottage View near Arundel Street.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, was walking home alone through the alleyway when 
he was knocked to the 
ground.

His wallet and mobile phone were then stolen before the offender ran off towards Bridgeside Close.

He suffered minor injuries.

The suspect was a white man wearing a dark hood covering his face.

Detective Constable Chris Dinenage from Fratton CID said: ‘Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about it, should contact police.

‘The victim was a student walking home from a night out alone.

‘If you are a student enjoying a night out in the city we would urge you to follow some safety advice to prevent becoming a victim of this type of crime.’
