PEOPLE are urged to be alert to a scam in which bogus callers claim to be selling advertising space for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The warning from the fire service and police comes after a Hayling Island business reported a man with a Liverpudlian accent trying to sell them an advert in a supposed drink-drive booklet.

The caller claimed to be a ‘Mr Jones’ from ‘Hampshire Fire and Safety’ and said the booklet was being produced in conjunction with police.

When quizzed the caller got angry and hung up. Call 101 with information.
