THIS is the moment two babyfaced suspects were caught on camera apparently stealing an eight-year-old boy’s bike from a pub in broad daylight.
Police want to speak to these schoolboys – both thought to be in their early teens – after the bike was taken from the back of a pub.
The pair are seen on CCTV to saunter into a courtyard at the back of the Old House At Home pub in Locksway Road, Milton, while it is open.
They take their time, casually walking around and peering into sheds, with one of them even playing with a football as they trespass on the land.
The youngsters disappear from view several times as they search the courtyard.
Then one of the boys is seen to wheel out a new black BMX bike and they both flee through the back gate at about 6.10pm on March 23.
The bike belonged to eight-year-old Aaron Gane, whose stepfather Ieuan Gane runs the Old House At Home with wife Abby.
Police have asked for anyone with information about the identity of the suspects to contact them.
Mr Gane said: ‘We have got a courtyard at the back of the pub with a camera looking out onto it.
‘We were out when it happened but the pub was open.
‘They were quite brazen. They shuffled in as if they owned the place. They walked in through the back gate.
‘Then they had a wander around and looked in the shed – it was broad daylight. We only discovered what had happened the next day because we were due to go for a bike ride. They were so cheeky – that’s what’s really annoyed us.
‘Aaron was gutted. He was bawling his eyes out. I want them to be caught. They’ve got to be taught a lesson.’
The first boy is white, with short, dark hair.
He wore grey tracksuit bottoms, a dark-coloured T-shirt and dark trainers, and wore a light-coloured top with dark blue and white stripes on around his shoulders.
The second is white, with short, light brown hair.
He wore a light grey T-shirt, dark-coloured tracksuit bottoms with three red stripes down each side, and a pair of dark and bright green trainers.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘We have received a report of a black BMX bike being stolen from the Old House At Home pub in Locksway Road, Milton, on March 23.
‘Anyone with information should contact the Volume Resolution Unit at Fratton police station.’
