POLICE are appealing for witnesses on the 20th anniversary of a teenager who suddenly went missing in the Isle Of Wight.

16-year-old Damien Nettles was last seen in Cowes on Saturday November 2, 1996 and Hampshire Constabulary have left the case, named Operation Ridgewood, open for any new information to be reported.

The final confirmed sighting of Damien on surviving available CCTV was in the former Yorkie’s fish and chip shop off Cowes High Street at 11.35pm.

He was last positively identified by his family from CCTV on Cowes High Street at 12.02am on Sunday November 3 with CCTV showing Damien walking to a bus stop and then back along the High Street eating chips.

Damien is described as white, six foot three inches tall with short brown hair which is shaved at the back and a slim build.

He was last seen wearing a black fleece jacket, dark blue jeans and black boots.
