A WAR medal and sentimental family photographs were found when police raided a house.

Now Sussex Police are trying to find the rightful owner of the items.

Officers raided the property in Bognor earlier this year and most of the stolen items have been returned to their owners.

However, police have been unable to trace the owners of the medal and photo album.

The medal is an Imperial Service Medal awarded to John Edward Whiter on April 26, 1960 on his retirement from his work as a postman with the London Postal Region.

The photo album contains pictures taken from the 1940s which look like they were taken in the Bognor area.

Detective Constable Steve Shaw said: ‘We hope John Whiter or his family might still live in Bognor. The owner of the photo album must have been devastated to lose these photos.’

Lukasz Ksiezopolski, 27, of Hawthorn Road, Bognor Regis, has pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and awaits sentencing. A 24-year-old Bognor man was arrested and bailed until September 24.

If you can help, call police on 101.
