A HIGH-speed chase took place this evening after police asked the driver of a suspected stolen car to pull over.

At about 9pm tonight a Ford Focus was recognised by roads policing officers in Farnborough and raced off south down the M3.

It was pursued by four police cars and a police helicopter.

Officers eventually managed to bring the chase to an end just after the Emsworth turn-off of the A27.

Police cars from the roads patrol unit were able to box the fleeing vehicle in, forcing it to stop, at 9.47pm.

They have now taken an 18-year-old man into custody on suspicion of stealing a motor vehicle.
