POLICE have closed an investigation into a report of a sexual assault, saying there is no risk to the public.

An area of Forton Road, Gosport, was cordoned off and searched on the evening of Tuesday, February 5 after the alleged assault was reported.

Officers looked at CCTV footage and went house-to-house to hunt for information.

No arrests have been made as police do not have sufficient evidence and say there are no outstanding suspects.

The victim has been informed.
