POLICE investigating the supply of illegal drugs carried out several searches across the area.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary executed the search warrants across the Portsmouth area.

A police spokeswoman said the warrants were carried out at businesses and homes across the area.

The force said the operation follows an extensive investigation into the supply of illegal drugs.

One of the addresses raided by police was in Rockrose Way, Paulsgrove.

One neighbour there, who did not want to be named, told The News: ‘We didn’t know what was going on at first.

‘It is always worrying when things like that happen on your doorstep.

‘But it’s good to know that the police are investigating these things.’

Officers left the scene in Paulsgrove at around midday.

Another neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous said: ‘There were lots of police here at the time.

‘It was quite scary.

‘We didn’t know what it was all about.’

A spokeswoman for Hampshire police said: ‘Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are executing a number of search warrants in the Portsmouth area.

‘The warrants have been carried out at commercial and residential addresses across the area.

‘This operation follows an extensive investigation 
into the supply of illegal drugs.

‘The execution of the warrants included officers from across the force, including the CID, Force Support Unit, Dog Unit, Safer Neighbourhoods Teams and Tactical Policing Teams.’
