POLICE want to trace two potential witnesses to an unprovoked attack on a 60-year-old man in Portsmouth.

The victim was walking to his car in Nancy Road when two men attacked him.

He was left with a head injury after the assault, which took place at about 11pm on Thursday, August 4. Police have only just released details.

Officers now want to trace two people who went to the man’s aid afterwards.

PC Duncan Green said: ‘We have pursued several lines of enquiry over the past week into what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.

‘The victim was left on the floor bleeding from a cut to his head. We believe the assault could have been witnessed by two members of the public who asked the victim if he was okay afterwards.

‘I’m appealing for these two people to come forward as they may have vital information that may assist police with ongoing enquiries.’
