A MAN who tried to force his way into a 65-year-old woman’s home late at night is wanted by police.

Police were called to the property in Sutherland Road, Southsea, at about 3am on Saturday following a report that a man tried to get in through the front door.

Detective Constable Jackie Foley of Portsmouth CID said: ‘The woman at home in Sutherland Road was not injured, but was in fear for her safety.

‘This crime is not being linked to any others by detectives, but police would still advise people not to open their doors late at night without checking the identity of any callers first.’

The suspect is white, aged between 35 and 40 with a shaved or bald head and 5ft 6in tall. He wore a light coloured shirt.

Call Portsmouth CID on 101.
