An attacker pushed a woman to the ground before assaulting her in Lee-on-the-Solent.

The 29-year-old victim was returning home from work when she was pounced on the Gibson Close area.

It happened at about 3pm on Wednesday, September 18 although police say full details have only recently come to light.

DC Peter Lavin of the Fareham & Gosport DCID said: “Incidents like this are rare in Lee-on-Solent and although the area would have been quiet, someone may have been around and seen the man responsible. We would ask anyone with any information to contact us as soon as possible.”

The suspect is described as a white man aged about 45 to 50-years-old of scruffy appearance. He is described as having messy short brown hair and facial stubble.

Anyone with information can contact DC Lavin at Fareham Police Station by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
