A MAN needed hospital treatment after being kicked and punched to the ground in an unprovoked attack.

The 39-year-old man was walking with a 35-year-old woman in Grange Road in Rowner, Gosport, when three men approached them near the Taylor Wimpey building site.

They launched an attack on the victim, kicking and punching him to the ground. The woman tried to intervene and was hit in the stomach.

The suspects then fled in the direction of Browndown at about 10.30pm on Friday.

The man was taken to hospital with bruising and swelling to his eye.

Detective Constable Barbara Hamilton said: ‘This is an unusual incident in that the couple did nothing to provoke the assault.

‘It happened on a main road and there would have been a lot of traffic in the area at the time and a lot of people. We are asking for anyone who may have seen the incident taking place and may be able to help with the identity of the offenders to please contact police.’

The suspects are an Asian man, of a slim build, aged 17 to 18 and 6ft tall with shoulder length, curly black hair. He wore a three-quarter length black coat.

The second man is white, aged 17 to 18, with a spotty complexion and blue eyes. He wore a beige woolly hat. The final suspect is a white man, aged 17 to 18 with mousey coloured hair.
