POLICE are investigating a suspected break-in at a Waterlooville bank.

Officers are carrying out enquiries following the incident at the Halifax branch in London Road.

It is believed someone got into the back of the bank overnight, though it is not yet known whether anything has been taken.

Halifax staff were seen waiting outside for police to arrive before starting their shift this morning.

Hampshire Constabulary has not released an appeal for information at this time.

A force spokesman said: ‘We were called at 8.44am this morning. The initial report seems to refer to a break in overnight at the rear of the bank.

‘We are investigating a break-in.’
