POLICE are warning residents to be vigilant about keeping their garages and outbuildings secure after a series of break-ins.

Several properties in the Bognor area have been targeted.

Between 7am on January 4 and 7pm on January 5, a summerhouse at a property on Ellasdale Road, Bognor, was broken into and gardening equipment was stolen.

Also on January 5, between 2.30pm and 7pm, food was stolen from a freezer in a garage on Bradlond Close.

Both the garage and a door to the summerhouse were left unlocked.

On January 7 crooks tried to break into a garage in Annandale Avenue and took chainsaws and hedge cutters from a garage in Chalcraft Lane,

PCSO Michelle Davies, from Arun police, issued advice: ‘Please ensure your garage and outbuildings are always secure.

‘Local hardware stores can give you advice on the best locks and alarms to use and battery operated alarms can be inexpensive.

‘Remember your local officers can security mark any tools and cycles.’
