Police launch appeal to find Wilko racist in Portsmouth

Police are now looking for the man, after the incident in the shop in Arundel Street, and have issued a CCTV picture of him.

Officers say he used abusive language towards a 28-year-old woman wearing a hijab.

Police staff investigator Olivia Freeman from the Eastern Investigations Team said: ‘This is a report of racially aggravated harassment aimed at a young woman.

‘This was unprovoked and unacceptable. The incident occurred in a public place, in front of other customers visiting the store that day.

The man was white, between his late 30s and early 50s, 5ft 6in, and with long ponytail that had blond, brown and grey. He is of a heavy build and spoke with a local accent.

It happened at about 11am on Thursday, June 2.
