A PENSIONER who died after being hit by a car in Gosport has been named.
Peter Herbert, 87, of Rope Quays, Gosport, died last Wednesday after the collision with a Ford Focus.
It happened on Mumby Road, in Gosport, outside the Clarence Wharf Industrial Estate.
Mr Herbert suffered a serious head injury after the crash at 8.17am.
He was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
As reported, the 36-year-old woman driver of the Ford was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
She was bailed until December 5.
Hampshire police want to hear from witnesses, or anyone who saw Mr Herbert or the car before the crash.
