AN UNDERCOVER policeman who died after his motorcycle was hit by a car was travelling twice over the speed limit.

PC Steve Rawson, 40, who was based in Fareham, died in a collision with a BMW on Thomas Lewis Way, Southampton, on April 3, 2013.

Speaking at an inquest, forensic scientist Peter Jennings estimated the motorcyclist’s speed to be 90mph – more than double the 40mph speed limit of the road.

Michal Pliszczynski hit the police officer after wrongly turning right out of a petrol station. The inquest continues.
