Police on drugs bust discover... a litter of abandoned kittens!

TINY kittens found when the police carried out a drugs warrant have been taken into the RSPCA's Stubbington Ark's care.

The litter was discovered by Hampshire Constabulary yesterday when it searched an empty building in Derby Road, Southampton.

A police spokesman said: ‘We carried out a drugs warrant in an empty building and found something a little unexpected.

‘Instead of finding any drugs or criminal activity our Neighbourhood Policing Team discovered some kittens.

‘They appear to have been abandoned by their mother, they would likely have died if they hadn’t been rescued.’

The police contacted the RSPCA to help and they were taken to the RSPCA’s animal shelter the Stubbington Ark, in Ranvilles Lane.

Annabel Radcliffe, from the shelter, said: ‘These beautiful little ones are currently with our veterinary nurse receiving round-the-clock care as they are so young.

‘When they are old enough (at eight weeks or older) they will go up for adoption.

‘We believe they are only a day old as they still have their umbilical cords.

‘We are unaware if they have any medical conditions at the moment, so if all is well they will be available for adoption in around eight weeks.’

She added that the shelter has lots of other cats available for adoption.
