A CCTV image had been released after a man was attacked by a dog.

The attack happened near the Kwiki Mart on Albert Road, Southsea, between 3.20am and 4.20am on Sunday, August 7.

It is believed that following an altercation, a man set his dog on another man.

The victim sustained puncture wounds to his arm as a result of the incident.

PC David Freeman said: ‘This is an apparent directed attack by a bull terrier type dog.

‘There appear to be a number of people in the vicinity at the time of the incident however, few of these people came forward to speak with police about what they saw or heard.

‘I want to deal with the suspect and the dog responsible for this incident as soon as possible in order to prevent it happening to anyone else.

Anyone with information, or recognises the man in the CCTV image is asked to contact PC Freeman at Portsmouth Central police station on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
