POLICE have been called to a minor knife incident in Fratton this evening.

The assault took place in Shearer Road – close to where a man was found seriously wounded earlier today.

Officers were called out at 7.39pm following reports that a person had been assaulted with a knife.

The victim suffered ‘minor wounds’ to a hand, a police spokesman confirmed.

He added nobody has been arrested and police were not appealing for witnesses at this time.

It comes just hours after a man was found injured in nearby Lake Road.

The 38-year-old man was found with serious neck injury in nearby Lake Road at 3.30am.

He was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, where he remains in a critical condition.

Two men, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, both from Portsmouth, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and are currently in police custody.
