POLICE have confirmed that a body found this morning is that of missing man Kieran Smith.
Hampshire Constabulary has also revealed that it is referring its handling of the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
It says it is part of standard police procedure when a death occurs after recent police contact. Kieran, of Harcourt Road, Fareham, had been talked down from a pylon in Cosham by officers on Monday, March 9, and went he missing on Tuesday, March 10.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokesman said: ‘Our thoughts and condolences are with next-of-kin who are being kept informed by police.’
The coroner has been notified.
