A MAN was robbed at knife-point as he walked in an open green, according to police.

The 31-year-old man was in Bath Lane recreation ground, in Fareham, when it happened on Monday at 5.40pm.

A chubby white man approached the victim, brandishing what is thought to be a knife, and demanded the victim hand over his phone and wallet.

The suspect ran off towards Gosport Road after a cyclist rode past.

The suspect was around 5ft 8in tall, aged between 18 and 20, and was wearing a grey hooded top, surf-style shorts and trainers.

The victim was not hurt.

DC Barbara Hamilton from Fareham CID said: ‘We’re appealing for any witnesses in the area at the time who may have seen this man, in particular the cyclist who disturbed the offender.

‘The victim did not see anyone else around but the suspects clothing are fairly distinctive for this time of year.

‘Has anyone seen a person matching this description?

‘Please be always vigilant when out and about walking alone, think about your personal safety and consider staying in well lit public areas.’ Call police on 101.
