POLICE have seized £11,000 worth of cannabis in two raids.

Officers from Paulsgrove’s safer neighbourhoods team (SNT) in Portsmouth uncovered their second cannabis factory in Paulsgrove in two-and-a-half weeks.

The team raided a house in Harleston Road on Monday, after a member of the public raised the alarm. When they searched the house, a factory was found in a garden shed, consisting of 59 plants with a street value of about £5,000.

The success follows a previous factory raid on January 19, when police found 27 plants in a property in Dursley Crescent.

PC Andy Montague, who led the operation, said: ‘The job was a great success. We were supported by our neighbouring teams, Cosham and Drayton & Farlington SNTs, and the collaborative work gave great results.’

Ian Clarke, 50, of Harleston Road, is due at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on February 14 charged with the cultivation of and intent to supply the drug.
