EXPERTS in governance, accounting and risk management are wanted to volunteer to help police.

Hampshire Constabulary needs two people to become members of the Joint Audit Committee.

The body acts as a critical friend to the police force, and reports directly to the chief constable, Olivia Pinkney, and Michael Lane, Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner.

Mrs Pinkney said: ‘The committee has a vital role to play, acting as a critical friend, offering appropriate support, challenge and advice on matters within its terms of reference, for us to be fully sighted in determining what we believe to be in the best overall interests of our business.

Mr Lane added: ‘These roles add value and make a difference.

The committee provides valuable independent assurance of our risk management framework, internal control environment and the integrity of our financial reporting and annual governance processes.’

Volunteers should have experience of risk management, financial management and accounting, fraud risks, and values of good governance.

Applications close on July 22. See hampshire-pcc.gov.uk
