POLICE are warning revellers that they will be out in force over the new year period.

The roads policing unit will be conducting drink-drive operations over New Year’s Eve and Day and anyone over the limit can expect to be arrested and ring in 2013 in police custody.

RPU chief inspector Andy Bottomley said: ‘If you are working on the bank holiday or are heading home after a night out, be sure you’re sober before heading home. If you’re not sure, be safe and make alternative travel arrangements. Our aim is to keep everyone safe on the roads, not to spoil their fun.’
