THE trial of a family accused of attacking a couple in their home has been stopped part of the way through.

Darren Hatherley, his daughter Jade and son Jamie Williams are alleged to have punched and kicked Ann Marie Berry and Brian Keith when they went round to their flat in Wingfield Street, Buckland.

The trial started at Portsmouth Crown Court this week but it had to be stopped after a problem with witnesses.

The case is still due to go ahead and a new trial has been listed for December.

Mr Keith was allegedly punched to the ground and then repeatedly kicked during the attack last August.

It is alleged that Ms Berry was set upon when she tried to stop the assault.

The court heard there were ongoing issues between the families.

Darren Hatherley, 46, of Clarendon Street, Landport, Jade Hatherley, 18, of the same address and Jamie Williams, 25, of Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, all deny two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm.
