A GENERAL Election candidate appeared in court accused of assault.

Don Jerrard, 65, is charged with attacking a man who came to deliver legal papers to his house last August.

Mr Jerrard stood for election in May in Portsmouth South representing the Justice and Anti-Corruption Party.

Mr Jerrard, of Petersfield Road, Liss, denied the charge at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court and the case was adjourned until October 2 for legal papers to be served.
