MAGISTRATES have fined a 57-year-old man who was caught carrying heroin.
William Evans had 0.12oz (3.5g) of the drug on him when he was stopped and searched in Yarborough Road, Southsea.
At the time he had a conditional discharge hanging over him for a previous conviction of possessing heroin.
Unemployed Evans, of Stubbington Avenue, North End, pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.
He admitted breaching the conditional discharge.
The magistrates fined him £100 and told him to pay £40 in costs. The money will automatically be taken out of the benefits he receives.
