Warning to landlords as letting agent is fined £10,000 over ‘hazards’

A MAN has been charged with drink-driving after crashing through a railing in Portsmouth.

Leonard Clarke, 37, crashed his Volkswagen Golf into the traffic island and railings on Lake Road, Fratton, yesterday evening. Police followed Clarke, of Chesterfield Road, Baffins, when he pulled out from Malvern Road.

He will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on October 27.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘Police followed a vehicle making off at speed.

‘The vehicle then collided with the traffic island and railings.

‘Leonard Clarke has been arrested and charged.’
