PORTSMOUTH North MP Penny Mordaunt wants police to include Hilsea Lido in their community patrols.

Ms Mordaunt is to write to Hampshire Constabulary in light of recent problems at the Portsmouth attraction, where unruly groups led to it having to close early last week.

As previously reported, the lido was forced to stay shut for the day on Saturday because only one lifeguard was available.

The venue, run by Hilsea Lido Pool for the People Trust, opened the weekend before last for the first time in six years.

Under-18s were banned from entry without an adult after youngsters got unruly on the Sunday.

A group of adult visitors then started causing trouble two days later after disobeying pool rules.
