Portsmouth robbery victim is attacked from behind

Police force is doing ‘all it can’ to keep residents safe from terrorism

A 20-year-old was jumped on from behind by two robbers who then ran off with his wallet.

The victim was walking along St Mary’s Road, Fratton, in the early hours when he was attacked near the City of Portsmouth Girls’ School.

The two male attackers – who the victim could only recall as being black – took his wallet containing £20 before running off towards Fratton Road.

The victim received head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment after the robbery which took place at about 2.45am on Wednesday, June 15. Police have only just released the details.

Detective Constable Andrew Holt said: ‘Searches of the area and house-to-house inquiries have been carried out over the past week. We’re now appealing for further information about the identity of the suspects.

‘This report is not believed to be linked to any other assaults in the city at the moment.’
