SHOPLIFTER Derek Glew has been jailed for a month.

The 53-year-old was caught after he stole £1,000 worth of men’s jackets from Debenhams in Commercial Road, Portsmouth.

Glew, of Eastern Road, Southsea, pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard he already had a number of previous convictions for stealing.

At the time of the offence, on December 9, he had a conditional discharge hanging over him for an offence of driving without insurance.
