SHOPLIFTER John Walsh has been told to pay compensation.

The 43-year-old, of London Road, North End, Portsmouth, admitted stealing jumpers from Peacocks in London Road, Portsmouth, on November 26.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing T-shirts from the store on the previous day.

Walsh was given a nine-month conditional discharge by Portsmouth magistrates.

He was also told to pay £166 compensation to Peacocks and £40 costs.
