A SERIAL shoplifter has been jailed for 18 weeks by Portsmouth magistrates.

Jay McKnight, of Fawcett Road, Southsea, admitted a string of thefts from shops in Southsea and Fareham.

Magistrates in Portsmouth sent him to prison for 126 days for the crimes.

He stole steaks and washing detergent worth a total of more than £80 in two thefts from a Southsea Co-op on two separate occasions.

The first took place on May 12 and the second on May 30.

But then McKnight went on to steal from two other convenience stores.

The 32-year-old then targeted the One Stop in White Hart Lane, Fareham, on June 29.

There he stole washing liquids.

And he then went on to steal steaks from the Co-op in Elm Grove, Portsmouth, on August 5.
