A THIEF with 97 previous convictions for shoplifting has been jailed.

Simon Collins pleaded guilty to stealing two model helicopters and a phone charger worth £109.97 from a Menkind store in Portsmouth.

The 41-year-old admitted to committing the offence while subject to a 12-month conditional discharge for another count of theft. Collins, of Sultan Road, Portsmouth, was sentenced to 56 days in jail by Portsmouth magistrates. No order for costs was made.
