SOCIAL worker Neil Ellesmere has been struck off after tricking a ‘rich and befuddled’ elderly man of more than £63,000.

The Health and Care Professions Council said he was employed by Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham when he defrauded a patient of £63,824.

Ellesmere admitted the fraud between January 13 and July 7 2012 and was jailed for 20 months. The HCPC struck him off last week. It said Ellesmere had damaged public confidence in his profession.
