A THIEF who went on a shoplifting spree, targeting four shops in one day, has been ordered to stay in under a curfew.

David Heard stole two tops, worth £56, from Burtons in Commercial Road and two phone cases, worth £40, from the nearby O2 shop.

He then took two pairs of children’s shoes from Priceless Shoes and a football top from JD Sports.

At the time of the offences he was subject to a conditional discharge for a previous shoplifting offence.

Heard, of Cumberland Street, Portsea, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft and admitted breaching the conditional discharge when he appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court.

The 37-year-old will have to wear an electronic tag and stay in his flat between 6pm and 6am every day for four months.
