CALLS are being made for an update over the issue of legal highs and whether they will be completely banned.

Councillor Donna Jones, leader of Portsmouth City Council, is to be put on the spot by Ukip Cllr Steve Hastings at a meeting tomorrow over whether she has received replies to the letter she sent the government calling for a blanket ban on the substances.

He will also enquire whether Cllr Jones has been told when people expect legal highs to be off the streets for good.

As reported, local councillors have been campaigning about the issue.
