A POSTMAN was assaulted after he refused to give a man wearing slippers and a dressing gown a letter.

The incident happened in Maple Close, Fareham, on Wednesday at around 11am.

A man, who is described as black, 6ft tall, and who was wearing slippers and a dressing gown, approached the victim and asked for a letter that was being delivered to a nearby home.

The postman refused and he was pushed over and the letter was taken. The man then left in a Vauxhall Astra.
