A CLUB leader has heaped praise on benefactors who donated £6,000 towards the expansion of a school gym.

More than a dozen businesses and individuals gave time, money and effort towards helping make the project at Crofton School in Stubbington a success.

Gym club leader Sarah Yeomans drummed up support to get the ball rolling.

She said: ‘It would have taken years of fundraising to do this without the help we’ve had.

‘Everyone has been fantastic.

‘The young people think it’s absolutely brilliant. We’re so grateful.

‘It’s helping us to educate, discipline and get kids fit.’

Leadbitters, David Kent Construction, Elliotts, Covers, Wickes, Bordon Cement, Shepherds and Altro flooring all contributed.

Others who helped out include Aeropack, TJ Waste, Steve Bezell, John Paice, David Webber, Graham Moyce, Arthur Woods, Carl Scattergood and Fareham Self Drive.

The new extension – featured in The News yesterday – was opened by European Championships silver medallist, gymnast Jocelyn Hunt.

Many of the people who helped out on the project attended the ceremony held at the school in Marks Road on Tuesday.
