TEAMWORK to keep festival-goers and residents safe from crime has been praised by police.

Hampshire Constabulary said its staff worked well as a team and also with other agencies at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.

Officers patrolled the outskirts of the festival, talked to the public to provide safety messages and reassurance, as well as to tackle crime.

Chief Superintendent Scott Chilton said: ‘I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of the festival, as well as the good-natured attitude of the vast majority of festival-goers.’
