Probe into police conduct

A POLICE sergeant faces an imminent misconduct hearing over claims he ‘did not sufficiently grasp the issues’ at the block of flats where Andrew Toseland was attacked.

As reported, the Independent Police Complaints Commission looked at Hampshire police’s response to reports of anti-social behaviour before Mr Toseland was attacked by two teenagers.

The report said the sergeant ‘breached the standards of professional behaviour expected by inadequately supervising local officers.’

The IPCC has also recommended that Hampshire Constabulary reviews training provided and identify whether officers need further support.
