A PROLIFIC criminal has been jailed for a string of thefts.

Thomas Dance, from Magpie Walk, Waterlooville, admitted stealing perfume gift sets worth £126 from Knight & Lee in Palmerston Road, Southsea, on October 18.

Dance pleaded guilty to stealing £140 of goods from a Co-op in London Road, North End, Portsmouth.

The 22-year-old also admitted to stealing £66 of goods from Boots in Cosham High Street on October 4.

He admitted nine other offences which were taken into consideration.

Dance pleaded guilty to committing the offences while subject to a conditional discharge imposed for theft, receiving stolen goods and failing to surrender.

He was sentenced to 24 weeks in jail by Portsmouth magistrates.

Dance was ordered to pay £80 to a fund for victims of crime. No compensation order was made.
