A MAN’S head was stamped on in a vicious attack.

A 41-year-old man was attacked by four youths at the university car park, at the junction of Middle Street and Bedford Street, in Portsmouth.

He sustained head injuries after he was stamped on.

Police are now appealing for witnesses following the assault, which happened at about 7.25pm last Wednesday, although details have just been released by the police.

Detective Constable Richard Gibson, from Fratton police station, said: ‘This was an unprovoked assault on a man who’d just left a local pub.

‘He was badly beaten, and had his head stamped on which could have resulted in severe injury or worse but for the swift actions of the emergency services.’

Anyone with information should contact Fratton CID on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
