A BURGLAR who was punched in the face by his female victim has been jailed.

Ian Dunstane, 48, pleaded guilty to breaking into a house in Den Avenue, Bognor, in November.

The owner of the house returned to find him standing in her hallway.

A tussle ensued, during which the woman punched the intruder in the face. Dunstane escaped with a red Nike rucksack, a sat nav, two iPad minis, an Xbox limited edition consol with controller, a Turtle beach ear force headset and £40 cash.

Earlier that day he attempted to beak into another property in the street but was disturbed.

He was traced through DNA he left at the scene and he admitted burglary with threat of violence and attempted burglary with intent to steal at Chichester Crown Court.

He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment and was ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge.
